Regeneration is a multidimensional term, within an urban context, focusing on the redevelopment of a locality with long-term improvements in mind. This includes economic development (creating the multiplier effect so as to generate investment into the area), social equity (thus ensuring the local community are not independent of decision-making processes and can access resources), retaining cultural capital (specifically heritage and that sense of place and historical connections that underpins communities) and environmental sustainability (see diagram below)
